NAIME MERABET, WINDOW OVER ALGERIA

On the occasion of the Algerian Spring, La Piscine invited Naime Merabet, the self-taught photographer who spent his youth in Roubaix to speak of his warm and personable experience of the Algeria he left as a child. His work on encounters stolen during long strolls in the streets of Medea are striking for their beautiful energy and obvious sincerity. Man is present, at the centre of everything, revealing in these well-constructed shots a world that’s both near and yet so original.
