Forming the heart of the Marcel Gromaire Retrospective, the historical contextualization room is dedicated to the history of L’Abolition de l’esclavage [The Abolition of Slavery], a large painting displayed in the museum lobby. The erstwhile changing rooms are home to the large collection of engravings generously donated to the museum in 2017 by the artist’s family.
